Chillblast are proud of our USSF (Ultra Small Form Factor) systems which we call the WAP or Work and Play devices.
Essentially, they're little PCs that are designed to do simple common tasks, like web browsing, word processing, answering emails and watching the odd YouTube video or some Netflix. The CPUs are typically Tablet or Laptop CPUs but built into a 'PC' case and with full fat, no compromise, Windows Pro included. Perfect for business' as well as in the home.
Below I have collated all of the versions we have had over the years with their specifications and some basic information about the devices. This is essentially an archive of the versions we have stocked and sold and how to identify them.
WAP - The OG (Original)
Nov 2017 - Sept 2018
This was our first foray into these miniature devices and was sold in partnership with Ebuyer. Although we got off to a fantastic start this original device was kind of weird and unique in it's own way (thanks Intel). Although it has a 64-bit compatible CPU it only has a 32-bit UEFI BIOS. This is a very unusual combination and makes the install/reinstall process for any operating system a little more complex as you need a 32-bit UEFI Bootloader. I must admit, the 2GB of RAM was a little restrictive though.

WAP Pro
Oct 2018 - July 2019
This was the first Pro model that succeeded the OG. It had a hugely upgraded CPU, despite fewer cores still performed way faster than the OG and it was fully Windows 64-bit compatible. The RAM got doubled to 4GB and a better WiFi chip which meant that overall the device really came into it's own learning from the feedback on the original.

WAP Pro (v2)
Aug 2019 - Jan 2020
This as the first evolution of the WAP Pro line as we managed to get our hands on Intel's J series of higher performance CPUs and cram them into a tiny device so it pretty much doubled performance with this change. This was the biggest performance uplift to date. We also Enabled the ability for the system to automatically turn on when power was supplied and I believe this feature has stayed ever since, this was again brought about by user feedback.

WAP Lite
Aug 2019 - Dec 2020
This was literally the WAP Pro v2 but without a Windows license included. This was, internally, considered a complete flop. There was practically zero interest in the device and in the end we ended up installing more than 75% of the devices with Windows in order to sell them off. You live and learn, I guess. The branding WAP Lite later got reused for lower end specifications of hardware instead.

WAP Pro (v3)

This was the the WAP Pro v2 but with 64GB of storage. Due to both user feedback as well as Microsoft changing their recommended minimum storage requirements, we felt it was time to increase the capacity, though this did somewhat impact the price and made it the most expensive WAP to date.

WAP Lite (v2)

This was the reintroduction of the WAP Lite branding with the new philosophy that this comes with a lower specification of CPU. This was largely introduced to bring pricing back down in line with our original target pricing to provide an opportunity for low cost devices in this area. We designed this before Windows 11 was even rumoured, but since it has been announced and released, it turns out that this particular CPU didn't make the compatibility list as the device doesn't support TPM 2.0. We are discontinuing this product until a solution can be found.

WAP Ultimate
Feb 2021 - Present
This range has 3 unique models currently. We launched these units to be able to offer an AMD alternative to the other Intel offerings. It also just so happens that we are able to get even more power from some of the AMD hardware out there so they became the most powerful USSF devices we have done to date. Further to this, the 2500U & 3500U were the first 'configurable' models we have launched, as you could choose the RAM & Storage options whilst configuring the product.
A fTPM UEFI BIOS Update was published here, but sadly Microsoft chose to not include the 2500U on their Windows 11 Supported CPU list, so this particular model isn't Windows 11 compatible. The 3020e and 3500U models are both Windows 11 compatible.
